Wagner update: Still ailing.

The Mets aren’t getting Billy Wagner back any time soon it seems. He was re-evaluated today at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery, and it was suggested he needs further rest as he continues to have swelling and pain in his left elbow.
The Mets will go with a closer-by-committee format while Wagner is shelved.

JD: Any interest in Al Reyes who did a pretty good job for the D-Rays last year? He was released.
I hope we get as many Reyes’ as possible. We used to have a lot of Hernandez’ so lets break the Hernandez record with Reyes’.
Well we’ve got Jose A. Jose B. and Argenis, if we can get Al Reyes and sign Jo Jo Reyes in the offseason we’ll be looking alright.
In all seriousness, I’d go for Trevor Hoffman right now. He’s obviously got a no trade and loves san diego, but if he seriously wanted a shot at winning before retirement he’d come to NY. He blows saves at the same pace as Billy, but he’s not worse than what we’ve got.
Clearly the Mets are now in trouble. Although I trust Manuel a million times more than Willie, this “closer-by-committee” is not cutting it for me. And Dirty Sanchez needs to be DLed….has there been an El Duque sighting? Probably need to get Kunz back up and live & die with him. He is a closer and did setup and close on back-to-back Collegiate national champions…..
Instead of throwing bullpen sessions Johan and Ollie should just alternate closing games. This way we can go back to back without wearing either one down. If we need a closer 3 nights in a row let Heilman get the third night.
...that was absolutely a joke, but still makes as much sense as what we’re doing now.
Bob: Trevor Hoffman blew the Padres chances for the playoffs last year and couldn’t save a clutch game if his life depended upon it.
Steve: I’m aware are you willing to watch our guys do the same thing with 100% predictability or would you rather have Hoffman give it a whirl? Like I said, either way we’re screwed.
I’d rather bring Bruce Sutter out of retirement!
What we need is some more cowbell!!!
