As if you didn’t already know, but the Mets will make a pile of money at Citi Field. The average price will be $495 for the premium seats, which is a 79 percent increase from this season. In contrast, the top price at the new Yankee Stadium will be $2,500.
Said Mets VP Dave Howard: “We have different customer bases and fan bases. We set our price where we think it was fair given all considerations of the various issues.”
The most expensive seats at Citi Field will be the 76 Sterling Club Platinum seats
behind the plate, which include food and beverage service. Comparable seats this year at Shea Stadium go for $276.
The first two rows behind the dugouts and plate average out at $375, with the best seats set at $495. Rows three-to-six average at $225; rows seven-to-12 average at $175; and rows 13-to-31 average $150.
The Citi Field capacity will be 42,500, down from 57,365 at Shea. Currently there are 29 different ticket prices, but that will increase to 39 different prices next season.
Start saving those pennies.
