Jerry Manuel would not commit to his closer tonight, but left it open to Ed Kunz.
Previously, Manuel said he didn’t want to throw Kunz to the wolves in a pressure situation, but backed off that this afternoon.
“He might have to step into a little more pressure situation than I would have like to have put him in at this time,” Manuel said. “We might have to find out about him now.”

I hope the Mets blow them out so there is no need for a save.
I would like to see this kid get a chance.
Kunz has been closing, both in college and in the minors. So, I’m not worried so much about his temperment or intestinal fortitude, so much as his stuff. If the stuff is there, I think he’ll be fine.
