The Mets announced today plans to sell Shea Stadium seats when they tear down this place after the season. They sell for $869 a pair and will be sold online at www.mets.com/Shea.
The sale to the public starts Aug. 25. Season-ticket holders can purchase seats before that date, but team hasn’t specified when.
Shea Stadium seats are owned by the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, and a majority of the proceeds will go to the City.
This agency, by the way, is the one that determines the parking fee at Shea, and, of course, doesn’t offer refunds when games are rained out.
