Greetings from Florida ….

Hello from Dolphin Stadium, seemingly one of the five hottest places on Earth. Mets vs. Marlins; John Maine vs. Ricky Nolasco.
They are watering the field, which to me makes no sense because it always rains in the afternoons here.
Wondering about Carlos Beltran. When he got the job Jerry Manuel said he regarded the No. 2 slot in the batting order as a place for hitters to get well. I’m thinking that might be a spot for Beltran for awhile. Couldn’t hurt.

I would like to see Beltran in the two hole. I know Manuel said he’s gonna wait until Church comes back and I can understand the reasoning behind that because of line-up balance. Phil Garner in a recent interview with XM radio said Beltran was at his best in the two hole when he had him in Houston because even though Beltran has middle of the order potential, his mentality is more of a second spot guy. According to Garner it’s always better to put guys where they are comfortable, that is when you get the most out of them.
Carlos in the 2 hole makes a lot of sense and I wouldn’t have a big gripe if Jerry went ahead and pulled the trigger on that. However, you have to worry about the bottom of the lineup, especially when Castro is on the bench.
With Church in the lineup we can bat Beltran # 2 but without Church our Tatis would bat 5Th followed by Easley,Chavez and Schneider. That is just too weak of a 6-8 even with Castro instead of Schneider
As someone pointed out a few days ago to me and stated above, no CB in the 5 hole makes the weak botttom half even weaker.
But I suppose tonite against a lefty w/Tatis continuing his magic and Castro probably playing, maybe it would be ok.
If he’s struggling when Church returns, I could see it happening.
