About Yesterday ….

July
25

I see where a few were asking where I am. I suppose that’s better than asking for my head.

Speaking of heads. I’ve had a Church sized migraine all day.

They are in first place, just where they always said they would be.

Well, let’s see them keep it up.

Here’s the lineup:

SS Jose Reyes
RF Endy Chavez
3B David Wright
1B Carlos Delgado
CF Carlos Beltran
LF Fernando Tatis
C Brian Schneider
2B Argenis Reyes
RH Mike Pelfrey

JD – the lineup card posted on your blog 3 hours ahead of game time? That's what I call ON POINT. Let's keep first place rolling into Brandon Knight's first Mets start. It'd be awful nice if we had a 2 game lead going into that, if you know where I'm going with this.

Thanks for the lineup. So glad to see no Marlon Anderson in the lineup

A name that hasn't been mentioned in the trade talks…

How good would 2B – Brian Roberts look plugged into that 2-hole in the lineup card. Baltimore has got to be sellers by now, no? He's a free agent after 09, but he's slated to make 8 million next year. Doesn't it make sense that Baltimore would like to cut some salary, ship them Reyes+Parnell or Reyes+Evans or Murphy or Carp. I understand Castillo is signed for the next 3 years, but c'mon, just chalk it up as a loss and move on. Not our money.

I think the Cubs have had Roberts on their radar for some time and probably will offer a better package. How about those Metsies? 13 out of the last 16 games and sole possession of first place. How about coming back after the bullpen meltdown and taking the next 2 from the Phillies? So much for this team has no heart. So much for this team is a bunch of losers. This team now has real leadership, and it shows. The Mets have proven that they are a better team than filly. 2007 is over. 2008 is ours for the taking.
    LETS GO METS !!!!

I hope there is no let down this series. I'd like to get a win tonight with Big Pelf not knowing what to expect out of Knight tomorrow.

I agree to a point that the mets are finally showing some grit and heart and passion. I'm not going to get to high or low anymore. There is plenty of baseball left. I would like to see the mets take 2 out of three from the cardinals, if they don't than i would be disappointed. I would feel allot better to if church would come back soon.

After listening to the national league TV announcers during this year I can really appreciate Gary, Keith and Ron.These guys sound like the 26 & 27th. ballplayers on the team. They celebrate when they are winning they cry & get mad when they are losing,it's really pathetic. Our guys are more impartial, so much that Keith sometimes sounds like he's rooting for the opposing team.So my congratulations to our trio. This does not include Mr. announcer Vince Scully.

And a happy 37th birthday to Billy Wagner…maybe the Mets bats and Pelf's big arm can give Billy boy a day off for his special day!

    Mike F,
There is no doubt in my mind that the Mets have the best trio in baseball. Gary Cohen annoys me some times but Keith and Ron are the best there is in baseball as analyst.

1st place sounds nice, now lets try to keep it. It will be interesting to see how the Mets come out these 3 games after such a highly emotional series vs the phillies. Good thing for the mets St Louis is coming off their own emotional series vs the brewers where they were swept in 4.

Tonight's game is a big one as you have no clue what you will be getting tomorrow. So would be nice for Pelf to throw another good one out there and get the series off on the right foot.

Tomg and MikeF = don't forget the radio guys – Howie and Wayne and sometimes Eddie. There are a lot of us out here who don't get SNY in our area of CT.
