Wagner update

July
22

A MRI on Billy Wagner’s pitching shoulder this morning showed a muscle spasm but no structural damage.

The Mets list him day-to-day.

Phew. No matter how many heart attacks the guy gives us fans, they are much better off with Wagner than without him. Anyway, I would expect Duaner would close tonight.

Sanchez threw 2 inn. I know he had yesterday off. But you wonder if his stamina is there yet after going 2.

  3. Andrew Vazzano

    sigh of relief

  4. John Delcos

Sanchez will probably close tonight. Don’t think throwing two innings will be a problem.-JD

They’ll say anything to keep the market price down for Fuentes.

  6. Mr Met

    Hey JD,

    Any new news on Church?

  7. John Delcos

Nothing new on Church. He’s supposed to be re-examined. I haven’t seen him for a long time that I forget what he looks like. No timetable. I am not counting on him.-JD

  8. Mike C.

Do we know who is going to start for Pedro on Saturday yet or are the Mets really going to run him out there to pitch two innings and leave having aggrevated his injuries?

  9. Stillsane

John D. – Is Tony Armas do back from the DL in time to take Pedro’s start if he is unable to, or, are the Mets going to look for another call up to take it, probably sending Cancel down for the short term?

  10. Matt

Even though Wagner is only listed as day to day i think the Mets should consider bringing up a reliever for the time being. Send down Cancel and maybe give Kunz a taste. What do you think?

i could have given you that diagnosis last week.

they just change the name on the release. everyone is day to day until it drags on and you say what gives?

    Pedro
    El Duque
    Church
    Alou
    Pagan

    etc

Matt: No, I wouldn’t give Kunz a shot right now. He hasn’t been pitching lights out in AA plus he isn’t on the 40 man roster. I would think either Collazo or Lugo would get the call first.

  14. Mets Fan

I saw in the Ledger that the Mets are going after Huston Street. If they do acquire Street that would mean Heilman might be in the deal or the mets could deal him for a corner OF?

  15. Tiffany

Actually, I think Kunz has been lights out after a slow start at AA.

  16. Nick

In his last ten games Kunz is 7 for 7 in saves . Zero runs 6 hits 2bb and 8k’s in 10 IP.
How much more do you want before it is considered lights out?
