Mets Notebook: Pedro Update

July
18

-Pedro Martinez is supposed to throw a bullpen session tomorrow. If there are no problems, he’s scheduled to pitch Tuesday vs. Philly.

-Angel Pagan has a labrum tear in his left shoulder. Surgery is suggested. He’ll get a second opinion next week with Dr. Lewis Yocum. If there’s surgery he’s done for the year.

-Orlando Hernandez’s bunion is acting up. He’ll see an specialist Monday to be fitted for a special shoe. We’re not seeing him anytime soon.

-Ryan Church will be re-evaluated again Monday. No timetable. Assistant GM John Ricco said the team has not dscussed shutting him down for the year.

-Ricco said the team hasn’t discussed promoting outfielder Fernando Martinez.

-We got bad info on Luis Castillo. He went from playing in a rehab game last night to starting baseball activities Monday in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

No no no, "bad info" on Luis Castillo would be "Luis Castillo will be coming back soon".

Good info on Luis Castillo would be "he can never play again but his contract was covered under Mo Vaughn insurance".

This Pedro guy seems to never be there when you need him the most, for that I can never forgive him. He was not there in 2006 for the playoffs he was not there in 2007 when the team colapsed, and he certainly has'nt done anything in 2008 and is trying like crazy to go back on the dl. So for me it's good riddance when he's gone.

Too bad about Pagan. We need both him and Church this year. Tatis is doing well but you can't expect him to do it all year.

After all we have only one major league OF playing right now.

I'm not wishing a normal-life alerting injury on him.

Just a baseball-career-ending injury on him.

He's already an obscenely rich man but Minaya make a profoundly ridiculous move signing him for so long and all his talent as a baseball player was in his legspeed.

His legspeed's gone and now he's just a dude who can make weak contact.

Just have him take his disgusting money and his shot knees and go home, travel the world, do all kinds of things that are pleasant for sixty more years!

Just stop bringing the damn Mets down.

Mike C I agree with you 100%, I only would like to include Pedro and Alou to that list and wish them a good life as far from the Mets as possible.
