I’m not defending the excuse, but as a veteran of concerts at Shea, I will offer that the bullpens are used as entrance and exit to seats on the field level as well as the way equipment is brought into the stadium. When we were at Shea last weekend, from our seats in the upper deck we could see that the player’s parking lot was not in use and the lot was half full of equipment for the concert… which would have brought in via… the Mets’ bullpen.

I don’t know what is more ridiculous: Not being able to find a place to throw because there was a Billy Joel concert at Shea or the fact that anyone would pay money to see Billy Joel. Can’t people find a good use for their money: help starving children or buy a PSL for the Giants and Jets?

Of course his era is 3.10 after last night, among the best in the league, but that does not count. It’s all about the wins to many people.

EVERY pitcher has bad outings, or even bad stretches.

It’s part of the game.

If our biggest worry is Johan than where do I get my world series tickets. He had a bad outing what does that make 2 on the season.

Please, they have indoor batting cages at Shea. I can’t believe they wouldn’t have an indoor pitching mound.

I think the problem was, he showed up for his sesson on Monday and was told it could not happen. I am happy to be told I am wrong, but with David Howards Happiness and Entertainment before Baseball crew it would not surprise me that Santana and the staff were in the dark, and frankly if I were him I would have called the Wilpons and said get me a field.

“this won’t last forever” what the win streak? no kidding

or are you saying the fact that they did not pack it in?

because the latter is a fairly negative presumptious sentiment

JD – i think we’re all liking Tatis right now, but as we saw last night his defense is still a bit suspect, and much like Angel Pagan early in the year, don’t you think the more exposure he gets, the more exposed he’ll be?

Scoop: I watched the interview on SNY last night. Yes, he ended up saying he pitched poorly but he started first with the excuses. If he would have said for once, “You know tonight I didn’t have it. I couldn’t find my groove. I didn’t have my location…etc..”and then was asked why…it would have been sounded alot better. I don’t buy the weather being an issue, I think it’s lame…the weather isn’t getting cooler after all.

I agree that Johan et al need to get there work in. But who knows if it would have mattered. His ERA when pitching w/6 or more days rest is over 6. So he definitely does not do well in those situations.

According to ESPN web site Mets schedule, Pedro is not scheduled to picth on Tuesday. It will be Sanatana, Maine, OP against Phils.

I don’t know who to blame, but not having the bullpen session was a major mistake. I recall Maine last year came out of the break very badly and admitted part of it was due to the fact that he didn’t do anything over that 4 day period.
