Pedro to miss start

July
17

Pedro Martinez received a cortisone injection this afternoon in his right hip and will miss Sunday’s start against the Cincinnati Reds.

Mets manager Jerry Manuel said Martinez would start Tuesday’s game at Shea Stadium against Philadelphia.

Martinez left Saturday’s start complaining of tightness in his shoulder, brought on he said because of a sore right groin.

Manuel also said there is no timetable for right fielder Ryan Church’s return.

And, we’re off and running.

The right hip? Wasn’t it shoulder tightness that took him out of his last start? It’s like whack-a-mole with his injuries. One heals and another one pops up.

Sorry to say, we cant expect much from Pedro anymore. Who takes his start? Armas is hurt too. Maybe its time to get one of those AA hotshots up here.

Because Monday is an off day, they can go with a 4 man rotation, so hopefully the shot helps him. There are a few weeks the Mets need to worry about having another starter.

Ray: They can talk all they want about being optimistic about Pedro, but I’m not buying. Anything they get is a bonus as far as I’m concerned.-JD

they have someone in the minors they can trot out. i am not worried. we are on a roll and OP and BigPelf are rolling.

we have a week or two to figure out what to do.
