tomg, I am with the program. I dont count the Mets out when the game is not over yet. I dont predict a nine game losing streak when a nine game winning streak is ongoing. When everything is fine, you cheer the Mets on, but at the first bit of trouble, you go into your gloom and doom rants again. btw I didnt comment during the game because I wasnt home when the game was on. I taped it. Have a nice day. :)

I don’t flip flop. I am a met fan and I don’t know what program your talking about but it’s my opinion that when you go out and trade 4 prospects and than pay 20+ mil a year it isn’t asking much as a fan for a guy to pitch like an ace. I haven’t seen it yet. I didn’t see you tonight on this blog until after the game was over and the only thing you post is directed towards me, maybe you should be the one to get with the program.

In fact after the game santana said that he did not get a BP in b/c of the Billy Joel concerts-so add that to the 8 days off and you get a pitcher who lacked command and stunk it up.

To expect the Mets to come off of three days off and play perfectly crisp BB shows a lack of understanding of how the game works. Just ask the Rockies how they felt going into the WS w/8 days off. that killed any chance they had. I was surprised that the bats were not off, except for Reyes who’s timing was bad.

I was not surprised that Santana was off given his 8 days b/w starts where his previous was shortened by rain.

So that no one is surprised, don’t be surprised if Maine struggles tonite given his long layoff-remember his first start of the yr. He stunk against the Braves.

When the Mets lose, there is more to complain about because there is more to criticize on what is wrong with the team.

When the Mets Win, it’s hard to find holes to talk about.

Makes sense to me. Just like any news, most of journalism reports the bad. Most people are more interested in the bad. Look at how Warhol’s artwork from his “Death and Disaster” Series approaches this. Warhol’s series hits the nail on the head about peoples’ attitudes regarding viewing other peoples’ misfortunes.

I know Warhol’s art probably has nothing to do with how the Mets winning or losing constitutes less or more blog action but this seems to be one way how how it might be looked at.

I have to laugh after reading some of the posts tonight.
First game back having won 9 in a row ( now 10 ) many of you
you seem to be ready to jump off the Whitestone any second now.
Look as long as the Mets don’t lose any ground by next Tuesday when they face the Phillies at Shea I will be happy.
3 of 4 against the Reds would be great especially after taking game 1.
For the rest of the season it’s all about winning each series. 2 out 3 everytime out and the Phillies will be in the rearview mirror at the end of August.

It is really amazing how lately this team never gives up.
Much different than when Willie was running the show.

By the way while there was this arguement about how awful Santana was tonight (there was a little 8 game layoff for him) the Mets won the game AND are sharing 1st with the Phillies. And Wagner had a 1,2,3 inning. He now has 23 saves in 29 chances. He aint Eckersly in his prime but he aint Benitez either.

(tied for) first place New York Mets!! A rally started by Argenis Reyes after being down 0-2 with 1 out and 2 runs down. Delgado is hitting now. First 10 game winning streak since 1991 (let’s leave out the “lose 14 of 17 collapse they had in August 1991).

I am so glad Citifield’s dimensions are going to be respectable. I feel bad for Cincy fans having to watch little league baseball.

FYI: Delgado’s batting average is about 20 points higher than Ryan Howard’s. Just saying.

What exactly were your expectations? Did you want him to change water to wine on the mound? End world hunger? Find a cure for cancer?

If you told me Johan would have a 2.84 ERA at the break in Spring Training I would have signed up for that in a heartbeat. There were 9 games (NINE!!!) where he gave up 3 runs or less and either lost or got a no decision (only 2 of the nine did he give up 3 runs.)

So he was sitting at 8-7 when he realistically could have been 12-5, AT LEAST.

maybe this team really does have the old magic back. All I know is the mets bet a get a few more insurance runs with wagner pitching in the bottom of the ninth because there going to need it.
