K-Rod's fastball is down 3 MPH and his slider has been less menacing. He apparently is also the type of closer who can give you a heart attack while watching him pitch. Plus after the year he is going to be asking for a ton of $$$. I think the Mets will suffer thru Wagner for another year, unless he blows the deciding game in the NLDS, NLCS, or WS...in that case, he couldn't come back next year to Citifield. Billy gets beat in every big game he pitches. He has been scored upon in each of his last 3 all star outings, being a big part of the last 2 losses.Career ERA in All Star games is now over 10. His ERA in the 2006 playoffs was 16.87. He was horrible in the postseason for the Astros as well, and He got a choker tag in Philly too. Truth is most closers are not lights out all the time and they can choke in big situations. Take Trevor Hoffman for instance generally regarded as one of the best ever. I agree that he causes some concern, but, for now he is the best that the Mets has got in closing games until they either trade for someone else in which case Wagner has to be part of the trade, or, they have someone from within step up and take over the job.
