I’ve got a new poll going on who the Mets should go after for their outfield void.
No way do i bring martinez up in the middle of a pennant race unless Im damn sure he’s ready for prime time. Which with all the time he’s missed he’s probably not. With that said I would definitely rather see the mets go after a switch hitting or right handed bat.
-Adam Dunn: The Mets just dont have the depth in the farm to get Dunn. Plain and simple. If they were to get him expect to give up F-mart and maybe a Neise or Kunz.
-Raul Ibanez: A very underrated player. He’s driven in over 100 runs the last 2 years and is on pace for 90-100 rbi this year. Hes on the last year of his contract and would prob only cost a couple of b prospects. Only negative: hes a lefty. But, hes by far the best pick in my opinion.
-Milton Bradley: Total headcase and same with Dunn. Just cant afford a player of this quality with the way our farm is at this moment.
-Randy Winn: A good player. Switch hitter who can field and hit some. Could prob get him for near nothing. I’d take em.
Fernando Martinez Still needs time.
Richie Sexson Not even an OF. Next…
Do nothing do something!
Since this is purely a hypothetical, you should include Barry Bonds on the list.
I think the most likely move would be to go for a Randy Winn or Raul Ibanez. Of the two, I’d prefer Winn, because he gets on base more, and he’s a much better fielder than Ibanez (who’s awful defensively).
My first pick is the X man (Nady)...only if we don’t give up F Mart…if that does not work I go with Lofton
I absolutely love the way Ryan Freel plays the game he’s hard nosed has versatility and “plays the right way” with all that said in my opinion he’s not what they mets need. They need some pop not another table setter.
I can’t take credit for this because I read it somewhere else but what about Austin Kearns? I know he’s having a bad year but he’d probably come cheap, he’s a friend of Church’s, a right handed bat, coming from a terrible hitters park, plays GREAT defense… They might just catch lighting in a bottle, maybe being thrown into a pennant race would ignite his bat. I think the Nationals would be happy to unload his salary too.
I agree with Freel. Nice player very versitile but he is not the impact bat we could use.
Also Fmart needs to stay in AA. He is not ready and needs more time to work against the competition he has. He would be buried up here.
I dont know who we should get or more importantly who we can afford. It seems we have some interesting ppl below AAA. AAA is pretty weak tho.
