The Fourth in Philly …

July
4

Streets were crowded today on the way to the park. Figured they would be on the Fourth here. Philly does the Fourth nice. So does Boston and DC.

Passing time before heading down to the clubhouse. Listening to music and posting. Does it get any better?  Well, I’m sure it does, but it’s nothing I can talk about here.

The boys played real well in St. Louis. They should have won three games there. At the start of this stretch I had them going 6-6. Still think that, although splitting with the Phillies only prevents them from sliding back.

They need to win three here, and one of them has to be tonight with Johan Santana. Winless in his last five starts. No run support to be sure, but he’s not been flawless. Walks and balk cost him last time out. And, he’s given up the homer this year.

From your mouth to the player’s ears. We need a win in the worst way to get some momentum for the rest of the series. Lets Go Mets!

Have a Happy Fourth John and all my other buddies who comment here!

    JD,

What’s the weather looking like out there? The forecast I was looking at wasn’t too pretty for tonight.

Kind of bleak now. It looks like it wants to rain.-JD

It’s definitely going to rain, the question is when it’s going to start raining. I have a feeling there will be a rain delay in tonight’s game unfortunately.

Santana always gave up the long ball… we just notice it more now, under the intense scrutiny of the NYC press. He’s doing more than fine.

Anything more than a split in this series, though, is pretty much dreaming. It’d be nice to take three outta four, so that the Rose-Coloured Glasses crowd could say “BUT WE’RE ONLY TWO AND A HALF GAMES BACK!” ten thousand times a second but…

    Yeah. Probably ain’t happening.

    Mike C.,

I know the Mets look like crap this season but I wouldn’t be surprised that the mets took three out of four from the phillies. I think the Phillies are over rated.

    Lets go mets!!!!!
