Hello from Coors. Watching the Mets take early BP. Wright is hitting now and going to right field on everything. Delgado was up before and going to left.
The last time we were here the Mets were in disarray. They had just been swept in a four-game series at Atlanta … Ryan Church was dragged across the country for no reason … and Omar Minaya flew out the first day of the series to give Willie a vote of confidence.
It is disappointing not to get a statement from the Wilpons on the Randolph firing. I guess it’s just me, hoping to get a little more.

Yep, it’s pretty riddiculous that the Wilpons haven’t said a thing yet.
hey john, speaking of church you have any idea when hes coming back?
Has anyone who has been given a vote of confidence ever kept his job? Can Fred Wilpon give Jeff one?
Hi John –
It is unusual to have a major personnel change on a sports team and not have an ‘official’ announcement. Just another example of the bad manners of the Wilpons. Money doesn’t buy good behaviour, does it. Rumor has it, that for the past few months they – Fred and Jeff – wouldn’t even talk to Willie. If that is true it speaks volumes about what the Wilpons think of the ‘rest of us’.
Are there any owners in baseball today that are nice people?
I can’t seem to get an answer to that question. Perhaps there isn’t one.
for a good inside look at the inner workings of the mets front office go to mark healeys gothambaseball site. It goes all the way back to who was really behind the Kazmir debacle. It seems the Wilpons biggest flaw is always trusting the the wrong people.
austin- i’m pretty sure church is off the DL as of tomorrow, but as for how long it’ll be before the team lets him play, i’m not sure. i know he’s been working out since monday and he thinks he’s ready to play.
my question is when is Pagan coming back?
JD – Hey, even though im still blocked (I dont have any idea why, maybe it was gil in savannah? hes always tried to take me down) im using a site called Vtunnel, it filters proxys. BTW how is Dan Gurney still posting here? Ive seen far too many raucous inconsiderate posts from him, he belongs in a home. id love to sock him the wrong way
How did Fred Wilpon make his money?

Annie:
Why do owners have to make statements on all matters.
If Omar has full baseball autonomy for every thing that happens on the field, then his word should speak for the owners.
I am not trying to be arbitrary but why do we think all owners should be the Steinbrenner model.
I do not remember ever hearing much from Doubleday or Wilpon when Cashen ran the team.
Going back even further Joan Pason did not speak much at all to the media.
As far as the relations between the Wilpons and Willie.
I believe that Jeff and Willie had a major fight a few years ago. I know everyone said they made up but maybe some deep resentment was still felt on both sides.
We do know that Fred was very mad about Ian O’Connor story
being that he is close with Rachel Robinson and the fact he is creating the Jackie Robinson Rotunda.
Maybe the Wilpons feel if you have nothing good to say it is better to say nothing at all.
I think the NY Giants gave Tom Coughlin a vote of confidence and I don’t believe he got fired and I do believe he proved the ownership correct.
The only reasons the Wilpons should say something is because they made such a big deal of hiring the first Black manager in NYC baseball. They forgot I guess that hiring Black managers was no longer news because holy cow, there were Black managers in baseball for 30 years before the Wilpons did it. So based on that shouldn’t they make a big deal out of firing the first Black manager in NY. baseball. Now Scott might be right and they moght be quiet because they can’t say something good. Met managers have it in their contract they can’t say something bad, maybe Wilpons have it in their ownership book they can’t say something good.
Every one have a good weekend
Hope the Mets do well but I think I need to
stop ranting for a bit.
This whole week has been a bit bizarre
especially when the Drudge report files a news item that
the Mets manager threatens star player with a knife.
and David Letterman claims the Mets fired Willie via email.
I guess the old saying “Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story” should be how this week in Mets history should be viewed.
