Sources tell me that Rick Peterson has been fired as pitching coach of the New York Mets. As yet, this cannot be confirmed, though reports this weekend have been leaning this way. We’ll know more shortly.

UPDATE: The sources were both incorrect. My apologies for the error. I consistently got “no comments” from Mets sources and do believe that Peterson remains in jeopardy. However, that decision has not yet been made … or made public.

John -

I just saw Tiger Woods and 75 others play 18 holes of golf walking the hilly Torrey Pines course for four days straight. Tiger won the championship on a 19 hole Monday Playoff against Rocco Mediate this afternoon.

Tiger had knee surgery 8 weeks ago and golfers know just how much the torque of the swing aggravates the knees. It takes about five hours to play each round and marshalls will penalize you if you don't keep up.

Also, golfers are self ruled - you learn all the rules because you call them on yourself - in USGA sanctioned tournaments officials are on call if you need clarification and there is no arguing with them.

And tonight Carlos Beltran's knees need rest???

This whole team is embrassment. They are leaving Willie in the wind, now the coaches. What's next. I think the Mets should get rid of everyone from top to bottom. What a disgrace

Now that was the first smart thing the mets have done all year. It was Peterson who told the mets brass that Kazmir would never become a good pitcher because of his violent arm delivery. It was peterson who had Heath Bell traded to the padres, etc...

John,
According to Baseball Prospect as of 6:47 EST, Rick "I can fix Victor in 10 minutes" Peterson was fired? Is this accurate?

Sorry PV, you beat me to it! Oh well! I bet Omar told the Wilpons he could "fire Rick in 10 minutes." Hopefully, Willie comes within the next 10.

Is this one of those lineups that make people say that this team has too much talent to be doing so poorly? I like 1-4. 5-9 is like a minor league team, like New Orleans.

What's wrong with Beltran? Endy Chavez and Marlon Anderson both in the lineup? Uggghhh. Maybe they'll both have a big game.
