New Poll: Taking your temperature on the Mets.

June
13

I have a new poll up on the Mets. It’s about your confidence level on the team. Simple really.

High: They’ll make the playoffs.

Moderate: They’ll turn it around, but the playoffs or iffy.

None: Turn out the lights, the party is over.

Tell us what you think and be sure to vote.

I've definitely scaled down my expectations. I don't watch games expecting them to win anymore. I don't expect them to hold on to leads or to tack on runs. Its a healthier outlook. Healthier for me. If they actually hold on to win I'm pleasantly surprised and if they blow a lead its not a devastating shock anymore.

I don't think they are a top team without Alou and Church. Other question marks are Pedro Martinez, Oliver Perez and Mike Pelfrey. How good will Pedro be and will he stay healthy? I really wouldn't be shocked if he gets hurt again. Ollie we all know the deal with. Pelfrey has looked a lot better lately but I'm not that confident that he's going to keep it up.

    I would say I'm lukewarm.

I am not buying one more ticket to see the Mets this year. We have a tuesday/friday plan and a saturday plan.

We are selling off some of the tickets that we can – obvious choices such as the subway series, mernengue night, fiesta latina (i hate the gestapo security on the latter two nights, it makes it a very unpleasant experience).

i wrote something on my blog today about the 10 things i'd like to see the mets do – knowing of course that all of them are fantasies.

i don't expect anything to change. this just isn't a championship team.

I really believe Met fans, myself included got spoiled by the success the team had in 2006. In 2007 the team was suppose to go deeper into the playoffs, they were suppose to be hungrier and display a killer instinct. Instead they got off to a hot start and then began to put it on cruise control. All I remember reading and hearing was that they'll turn it on, but they never did. This year the fans expected this team to go out and obliterate every team, take out their frustration from last year's failure. That of course hasn't happened and I cant see it happening this year nor next year.

I dont know if firing Willy is the solution, maybe firing Willy and the entire coaching staff would finally turn the team's light switch on. The switch Met fans have been waiting for, for more than a year.

Rumors are swirling through Flushing that Willy and many in the coaching staff will be gone by this weekend. If that is true, then the entire coaching staff needs to go, no exceptions.

I'm done, no confidence whatsoever, turn out the lights, the shows over folks.

  6. Steven Fox

They aren't called the amazins for nothin. I believe they will do something special before the year is out!!!!

  7. JOHN

    Steven Fox,

    Your alarm clock is ringing!!!!

  8. Who Needs Lohan

    Steven Fox,
I have a better chance of bangin a model before the end of september than the mets have of making the playoffs.

Who wants to start the wagering? This could be fun…..

Turn out the lights…the party's over. Until they win 5 in a row and sucker me in again. Then it will be we're making the playoffs!

Hey JD, Could you do me a favor?

I just found out that Alou is back on the DL, and Cancel is back up.

First off, is this solely Omar's decision? Or does Willie have input in call-ups?

The favor, could you ask what the thought process is in carrying 3 catchers? This is an awful move!!!! It's a complete waste of a bench spot.

The only way that 3 catchers works, is if 1 of them is named Mike Piazza. Ya know? A guy with a stick.

If this was Willie's call, then he needs to go now. If it's Omar's, then it seems Willie is being set up for failure.

Horrible moves like this define this horrible season.

C'mon JD the entire blogging world is scooping you with the Willie Watch!!! C'mon, enlighten your loyal readers and posters about what is going on?

  12. TheGuvlovestheMets

Wow! I've reversed opinion. Bringing up Cancel is the KEY move of the decade. Now we can officially CANCEL any hopes for the season.

  13. Ray Sadecki

Good one Guv, It would be even more funny if it wasnt so sad.

WAGNER FOR MANAGER. He's so perfect and he knows how to inspire with all his clutch choke jobs.

  15. Jason W

I didnt have confidence in this team at the start of the season, and actually are doing better than I had expected.

But they will still miss the playoffs by a wide margin.

And they need to fire Willie… not because he is at fault, but because he is mediocre. He will never be a good manager. Might as well can him while we have a reason.
