NOTEBOOK: You read correctly, Moises Alou is not in the line-up. His left calf is sore again and he’s off to get a MRI. Day-by-day. The DL didn’t come up yet, but it will shortly. Willie Randolph is talking about shutting him down for a few days. You know what that means. … Randolph said there’s nothing wrong with reliever Duaner Sanchez physically, but his fastball is down.

Jay Gibbons is available for free pretty much..can we get him or bring up a prospect who is not just a short term solution?
Gibbons article
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3437067
Isn’t Gibbons a persona non-grata because he freely blabbed about teammates to George Mitchell?
6-7-8-9 is :
Marlon Anderson .164 .193 .255
Brian Schneider .255 .340 .314
Endy Chavez .210 .257 .267
Mike Pelfrey .000 .000 .000
Brandon Webb should only get paid half his usual amount for this game because he’s only facing half a major leage lineup.
If thats true..I did not know that..do you know by any chance if thats for sure?
The Mets called up OF Chris Aguila from New Orleans today to replace Abraham Nunez, who was designated for assignment. Aguila has been tearing up Triple-A batting over .300 with some good power, why not give this kid a shot to play tonight? Do we really need to see Marlon Anderson in left field tonight, we all know what Marlon Anderson is, a decent hitter, but below average outfielder. Another move by Randolph that I just don’t get, but I’m starting to get used to it.
taylor…ha..sad yet true
Alou has had some many tests done on him the last two years he should be able to glow on his own by now.
Gregorio..
I think by now we should all know Randolph’s obsession with his bench..he loves marlon…its too bad though that his bench which wasnt that good to begin with has now become part of his starting lineup
Alou needs to go to the A.L.
John,
I could not agree more about Alou. He has turned too fragile for the field.
NO,
Alou needs to retire already. It’s embarrassing and to think Omar signed him another year is a joke. The guy was injury prone before he came to the mets and is not getting younger.
Also it seems that this calf injury is a new injury, not a re-injury (not sure but I don’t remember this one before, there are too many to keep track of).
Is it just me or does it seem like everytime Kazmir pitches..MIKE and the Mad Dog go off on how he is so great..its like they are rubbing it in or something…and it hurts..lol
Kazmir is on his way to winning the cy young award this year, it more than hurts.
Yeah but tomg we’re all still holding out hope that he can get healthy and finally come back and help us win some ballgames.
This is a recurring theme with the Mets, huh? Pedro, El Duque, Alou, now even Church.
This is why I don’t by this mental thing that has been mentioned today with the mets because the old players are one year older from last year and they were declining last year. Take a look at the lineup tonight. That’s not a playoff like lineup. When the critics pick the mets to come out of the national league to represent the world series this year they thought that maine and perez were going to win another 15 games, martinez was all of a sudden going to pitch like he did in his prime, dito with el duke and that alou was going to play everyday. I,m not sure what they were smoking but whatever it was it must have been good stuff.
Maybe we can sign Doc and Straw. They Fit the Age limit now. OMAR Make a TRADE for an Outfielder. Get some LIFE back into this Team. LETS GO METS!!!!!

Alou Still A Great Hitter But He Sneezes And It’s The DL For Him. Buy Out His Contract And Lets Go Shopping Omar..
I don’t know how other met fans feel about it but I am done with Alou, it’s a joke. The guy injures himself getting out of bed in the morning, enough already. I can’t take it anymore and again, Omar signed him again one more year (this year), give me a break Omar. The Mets need to get younger, not older. This is becoming the New York retirement fund.
“Randolph said there’s nothing wrong with reliever Duaner Sanchez physically, but his fastball is down.”
So Randolph is saying??? what? that its slowed down on purpose. What does that mean?
Anyway Alou provided another 6 innings of fine work. I remember last year when Alou played a whole month and having the big streak, everybody screaming he had to be renewed. Well, you wanted him you got him.
Gregorio: Do you really think Aguilar is going to help??? He’s not a kid. He’s a minor league guy who for some unknown reason is suddenly showing power he never showed before. If it were the early part of the decade we’d all know why the new found pop. Maybe he’s found the fountain of youth. Anyway, would you want to start a new guy in his first game against Webb? That’s cruel and unusual punishment.
Good question GuvLove. His fastball isn’t ‘just down’ for no reason.
You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that snachez’s fastball wasn’t what it use to be and probably never will get back to 96-97.
I love it…. Thanks for the free entertainment metsies!!!!!!
