Is there a nicer place in the US than San Diego? Maybe Hawaii. But, this place is sensational. Watching the draft on TV before heading down to the clubhouse.
I can’t tell you who the Mets took, I mean, as far as what kind of players they are. We have a conference call later with the scouting department. Will fill you in later.
We have Mike Pelfrey tonight. He’s got some Coin Flip in him, too. Padres are reeling. The Mets need to win three of four this weekend to keep it going.

jd- i live in phoenix and get to watch ike davis (the mets first pick) on tv a lot. he’s definitley ASU’s stud, although he pitches a lot of the time, always from the stretch, even if no one is on base. anywasy, ike was a great choice, he’s a fantastic all around player. i’m only telling you this because you said above that you weren’t sure about the choices.
Matt B in AZ
The reports say he is a good fielder at 1B and that he could possibly play LF.
What do think about this.
Delcos—You need to inquire about this Niewenhuis kid they drafted in the third round. He apparently didn’t play college ball, but instead played on the Athletes in Action team. Sounds like a human-interest story.
Check that—he did play college (at Azusa Pacific), but is also known for his tour of duty in the Alaskan League with Athletes in Action.
San Diego is a great town, and Petco park is beautiful and easy to get to right in downtown. I will be there for the Saturday and Sunday games. This is a different team now, mostly because Jose is tearing it up. Its true, he is the most important player on the mets. metsblog has an interesting stat on him today, When Reyes scores in the first inning their winning pct. is .716, while the avg of the other teams winning when thier leadoff man scores in the first is close to 100 points lower.
