I admit it. I had a feeling the Mets might have turned an emotional corner, but evidently they didn’t turn a consistency corner.
If they want to be as good as they think they are, they have to put that one away.
And, Willie Randolph needed a faster hook for Aaron Heilman.Thirteen pitches isn’t many, but it was clear after the first two hitters he was useless.
Heilman had been pitching well lately, but I’m more inclined to think the aberration was the good and not the bad.

I blame last night’s loss on Willie Randolph. In a 1 run game he brings in Heilman. Ok, people could argue that heilman looked great the other day against the marlins striking out the side and pitching two scoreless innings. That was the first time all year Heilman looked good. In a 1 run game in the eight is not the time to try and get Heilman to build on his last outing against the Marlins. Than Willie makes it allot worse by leaving Heilman in there and hanging him out to dry so the Met fans can mercifully boo him. I chalk up last night’s loss on Willie Randolph. Another thing also, why didn’t Willie have Chavez playing right field in the eight inning for defensive purposes. Instead he leaves tatis in right field who isn’t a natural out fielder. If Chavez was in right field in the eight inning he would have made that play in the gap, instead it turned in to a double and runs scoring.
Oh, one more thing. I just want to let my fellow bloggers know that the first two post were mine, after that it was a imposter who for whatever reason had it in for me.
One thought that may make you feel a little better today.
Omar deperately wanted to trade for Chad Cordero but the Nats wanted way too much in return.
Omar only wanted to give up Humber.
Cordero’s 2008 stat line.
6 games 4.3 inn 0 saves Age 26
currently on the DL
I could only imagine the grief Omar would get if he had given in and overpaid for Cordero.
Willie is so stubborn it’s getting frustrated. We all know that Heilman is terrible when pitching with runners on base. Why did he bring Heilman in? Where’s Sanchez?
Agreed. Heilman has been pitching well but is still regaining his form and confidence. It’s like that 13-inning game against COL, Heilman pitched a good inning and I thought they should take him out so that he could leave on a high note. I know we were running out of relievers at that point in the game, but for the sake of Heilman’s psyche and his long-term worth to the team he needed to leave after one inning.
Tomg – I disagree just a little bit. I have no problem with bringing Heilman in to “build” on his success. But, given how he had pitched up to that Marlins game, I would have had someone warming up from the get-go just in case.
That way Heilman could have been saved from himself (and just maybe the booing)and the Mets may have gotten the win.
