Mets Chat Room: Pedro says hello.

May
30

Pedro Martinez is in town and said he’s ready to pitch Tuesday at San Francisco.

“If I had my choice,’’ Martinez said. “I would take Sunday, here, in front of my fans.’’

Martinez also clarified reports about his future.

“If my arm is gone, I’ll hang them up,’’ Martinez said. “I’m not going to go through (rehab) again. If I’m healthy, I’d like to play two or three more years.’’

Martinez also said his father’s illness is weighing on him and there will be times when he’ll have to leave the team.

Martinez believes his presence will have a positive impact in that it would loosen the clubhouse. He also said he might have a good influence on Oliver Perez.

After disappointing finishes in the last two seasons, Martinez said: “This is New York. People expect you to win. We owe something to the fans.’’

We have Pedro, we have John Maine trying to help the Mets extend their three-game winning streak tonight against the Dodgers.

I had a dream that I went out to dinner with Giuseppe Franco, and Gary Busey walked into the restaurant and sat down and ate with us. Weird.

  2. John Delcos

You can do better than Giuseppe Franco.-JD

  3. Taylor

Hey, I’m Guiseppe Franco and I’m not putting my name on the line for something that doesn’t work!

  4. Dan Gurney

John Maine gives up three runs. Luis Castillo hits a two run homerun. Next thing you’ll see is AAron Heilman break Hersheier’s record for consecutive scoreless innings.

What’s weird is Gary Busey in that hair commercial. Busey looks like a zombi!!!!!

    One to many lines!!!!

  8. clm

Busey’s face couldn’t be lifted any higher without it coming off over his head.

I am thinking the Mets will win tonight.

  9. Craig

What happened to Vanlentin is he still on the disabled list?? We might need him.

  10. tomg

To Many old players. Castillo out again, more knee issues, great. Castillo starts playing great and than his knees go out on him again.

  11. clm

    winning teams get the breaks

  12. clm

Tomg – Sometimes the glass is half full.

  13. clm

bad call. sometimes losing teams get the breaks too

  14. clm

    now that’s funny

  15. tomg

    Ok, JD,
somebody is using my blog name. Those are not my post, check the e-mail. It’s an immature imposter.

  16. Stillsane

This is on Willie again. What was he waiting for? Heilman should had been out after two hits…..This is exactly one of the reasons Willie is not doing his job as manager.

  17. clm

something needs to be done about the hijacking of users names!!! Not good!

  18. edfever

I’d love to know te excuse for leaving in Heilman…..come on you’ve been around for three years you still dont have a feel for pitchers…

  19. clm

I don’t want to get into the whole Willie thing again but in my mind I was thinking why is Heilman still in?

I feel bad for Heilman I believe that he feels worse than we do. He is still a kid after all.

Apologize for laughing at the false Tomg. looking back and seeing the curse should have known better.

JD – Thought the cursing would have been blocked?

And so the three-game streak was False Turning Point #5?

  21. Ray Sadecki

We all knew the Mets probably werent gonna sweep this series. I like that they played hard throughout. Carlos Beltran Did a good job in the rundown in the 9th. To all the Castro haters out there, and I know there are many, you will feel the loss of his presence in the lineup if he is out for long. Its like having 2 leadoff hitters with him and Reyes.-Tom G., I hope that was sloppy impersonating you on that last post.

  22. Ray Sadecki

Make it the last 2. Is profanity allowed on this website? Might there be childeren who read this website? JD, I hope you will address this.

  23. Ray Sadecki

    I meant Castillo not Castro.

  24. Dan Gurney

A Game of missed opportunities. I go take a shower just as Heilmann comes into the game. Randolph has to have someone standing by to remove Heilmann after he gives up two hits. Are he and Kyle Farnsworth going to be the pitchers for the All Star game Home Run Derby?

  25. TheGuvlovestheMets

Despite the early comeback it just seemed like a game waiting to be lost. So many guys on base and so few runs most of which came in because the Dodger 3B didn’t have a clue what base to throw to. Now Castillo is apparently hurt and there are no backup infielders if this team does its normal day to day routine with injuries.
