Delgado playing/Delgado batting fifth.
With Willie, it’s like a child touching a hot stovetop, burning his hand, screaming in pain and then just… touching the stovetop again and wondering why it hurts again.
Just… over and over and over.
I mean, on two days rest and against an erratic rightie, Delgado might even have one of his isolated Good Days but… way too much of a vote of confidence for a player who is done and who is in complete denial of said fact.
Next time you bench him, he’ll whine and gripe and avoid the media and not get in the Win Pile when someone other than him wins a ballgame again.
If Delgado is on the team, Willie has to play him in some capacity other than an occasional pinch hitter. Otherwise just release him. That’s an Omar decision. Not Willie’s. So a platoon makes the most sense now.
Tomorrow will be interesting to see whether Delgado hits against Kershaw. I’m thinking if he has a good game today, he might. Otherwise, it will probably be Evans or Easley at first base tomorrow.
