Common decency …

Omar Minaya is coming, but won’t get here until game time. The Mets’ PR machine said there’s nothing going on. Basically, Minaya needs to be asked the following questions:
1. Is Willie’s job in immediate jeopardy?
2. If Minaya’s answer is “yes,’’ or other wise hazy, the follow question should be, “why don’t you treat him with decency and do something now?’’
3. If Minaya’s answer is “no,’’ the follow question should be, “then why don’t you treat him with decency and say so?’’
It’s not all that hard.

Mets need to address the cuchy cuchy dugout stuff, we are more professional than that. Come visit my new site HABS INSIDE/OUT.
We’re making a martyr out of Willie already? What kind of common decency is it to call anyone who has a problem with you a racist, even though you’ve lived in this town your whole life and claim to know how it works so well? I’m not sure how much you owe anyone when they’ve just put a knife in your back like that, and you’ve pretty much buried yourself…
I’ve defended Willie a ton in the past, but he’s done this to himself, and it was bound to end like this. He was never the expert NY media psychologist he claimed to be even when they were winning. It seems like most of the media was harder on him than they are now, and you shouldn’t be able to have it both ways…
Wow, I can’t believe Church isn’t playing tonight with so much at stake… Furthermore, Castillo is still in the two hole??? I’m starting to think Randolph is pressing the issue.
Mets fans have always been a Queens, Long Islamd group of good old boys. We never have a racial problem with lessers in the stadium, serve thebeer and let us cheer. Willie is too sensitive for true Mets fans.
John,
If you honestly expect the Mets to say that something is going on, then you haven’t been around the block. Minaya’s doing due diligence this weekend so he can make a confident recommendation to the Wilpons on Monday.
They wouldn’t can Willie on a road trip unless they already had someone lined up to take over the team. They’ll wait until they get back home to give him the axe. That’ll give them some time to figure out who the successor is (if they haven’t already).
That’s not treating Willie poorly. He’s making $2.5 million this year to manage the team. So he needs to go out and do his job that he’s paid so well to do.
Oberkfell should get a shot at least in the interim. Manuel has been a part of this regime for four years, so even if he is deserving he doesn’t represent any kind of change. The players must be used to him as well…
Obie is not the sexy name, but he’s paid his dues and won a lot of games with next to no real talent. Wright played for him when he broke out in 2004 too. I doubt he gets it though. Just please no more AL managers (or coaches in Willie’s case) who have never made a double switch in their lives…
Fire the colored and get rid of the cucarachas.
Minaya will never say “yes.” He’ll likely give a shady answer and won’t say anything specific (which might mean the same as a yes).
OR maybe Omar is just as much on the hotseat and is making his way out there now to try and help fix the mess he created. Everyone is looking at this to mean it’s some sort of implication about Willie’s job status but maybe it’s not. Could this mean a possible trade is in the works?
Dave: Sorry, don’t agree. If the Wilpons aren’t sold on Willie, then he shouldn’t be here. And, what good is a nod from Omar? They either know or they don’t. And, they have a back-up in mind right now. I just don’t know who it is. Maybe the delay is in that they haven’t worked out a deal with him yet. Willie has done things wrong, but this is his ``first trip around the block.’’ I think Omar is more to blame, and even moreso, the Wilpons. They let Omar build them a house of cards.-JD
Could be RMK that you are right and Omar is hiding away. I remember when Phillips as on his last legs, I was at a Mets AAA game in Scranton PA. Phillips was at the game even though the Mets had just brougt up Reyes and and there were no prospects. Next day the news I mean the axe came down.
Bren can you please take your hood and sheet and join your friends where ever it it is you learn to hate everybody who doesn’t look like you.
JD
Do you allow Bren to say that?
