No Pedro today

May
21

Just got a call from the Mets. We won’t see Pedro Martinez today. He was in the Atlanta airport when he got a call saying his father had a setback.

So he’s flying now to the Dominican Republic. There’s no telling how long he’ll be there and subsequently when he’ll resume his pitching routine.

Unreal! My prayers are with Pedro and his family.

What else can go wrong for this team?

probably for the best, no reason to rush Pedro back

That is a shame. My prayers to Pedro's father and family. I have a feeling that we won't be seeing Pedro pitch in a Met uniform again.

You are one sick dude to say its for the best that someone has a sick family member…. With that attitude please remove the name metsfan from your title as we have enough fans giving us a bad reputation.
From all the decent Met fans in America who know family comes first, good luck to your Dad Pedro…. We're with you in spirit.

I'd rather not explain myself, but to think that I don't care about Pedro's family issues, that is nonsense, it was meant in a purely baseball sense, and of course Pedro's top priority should be his family. But hey, who cares what I actually said, have what I say mean that I'm all for his dad having a setback. Man, if you knew what I did for a living, you'd be ashamed and embarrassed. I meant what I said in a pure baseball sense.

Pedro is where he should be right now…with his ailing father. As everyone here has stated, my thoughts go out to him, his father, and his family.

I am also hoping that Ryan Church recuperates quickly. It is a sickening feeling whenever you see two players collide, especially when both are end up on their heads. I am just glad it was not worse. It brought back the memory of the Beltran – Cameron collision. I do not care what team they are on, I appreciate a hard played game, but, always want everyone to go home ready to play again tomorrow.

Many of us can relate to these trips concerning parents who are ill and want to see us. I'm glad Pedro has gone to see his Dad. Right now it's very important for them both.

Thankfully MLB has become more family friendly – in years past – they weren't.
