Willie Randolph said the Wilpons hired him “to win games and not because of the color of my skin.’‘  Randolph downplayed comments attributed him that criticism of him was racially motivated and the team’s network, SNY, deliberately portrays in unflattering positions.

“I’m not upset with anyone,’’ Randolph said about the network. Regarding race, Randolph said his comments were “tongue in cheek.’’

Randolph said he hasn’t spoken with the Wilpons since Sunday, and when asked if there was anything he would change about himself said, “not at all … there’s no reason to.’‘
