David Wright said the Mets will hold a team meeting this afternoon in response to Billy Wagner’s postgame comments yesterday about player accountability.
Wagner said he apologized to Calrlos Delgado. Wagner said he waved his arm broadly around the clubhouse but was not pointing at Delgado.
Nobody said Wagner was out of line, and both Delgado and Wright said there wasn’t a division in the Mets’ clubhouse.

Who called the meeting? Marlon Anderson? Where’d Wagner get the denial from; The White House I suppose.
Anyway we can DH for Luis Castillo and let Santana hit?
I hope the team meeting goes something like this:
Wright: We all heard what Wagner said. He was right. And Jose, stop sucking.
Omar Minaya enters.
Minaya: Gentlemen. Willie Randolph will not be joining us today. May O present Bobby Valentine/Ken Oberkfell/Wally Backman/Anyone Else.
straw is saying both teams need to bring the fire.
he is right they need to play better and bring some intensity. part of the malaise may just be a comfort level. firing ppl may do it, but having someone who can play better than you will do more.
dave: I don’t know if you are old enough to remember the 86 team, but fire is almost an understatement. Every series, you could sense that team was figting a new war, looking for every weakness and usually, by the last game of the series, the other team was broken….. I don’t think the other team or Met fans ever counted that club out of a game like this team is counted out as soon as something bad happens. So Strawberry is an expert on the fire. And sometimes Keith would be all over him for not showing the fire necessary. And they had fights but it was over things on the field not crap like talking to the press. This team seems to love the diversions to avoid the problems on the field.
that team had character. keith and carter were vets who cared. we also had a scrappy top of the order. we do not have that on this team.
it is not enuf to just try and do well. sometimes you have to care enuf to get in someones face and challenge them. if they hate you for it so be it. but it may cause them to try harder if only to piss you off.
wagner seems to care but does it the wrong way. he needs to get in someones face if he thinks its not happening. not mouth off to the press.
another thing could just be salaries and the chuminess of players. castillo who is a role player makes a pretty penny. players hang out together.
you cannot make chin music to someone you have dinner with. also if you make enough to buy a suite at every stop you dont have to hang with the team. these extra game events are big.
