Assuming their popularity would remain high like this over the next five years due to both a new park and a competitive team, they will be losing a lot of money because of the decreased capacity. Perhaps half a million or more a year in attendance. And that doesn't include smaller potential crowds in the postseason where ticket prices are higher. I read where they claim they will save in the long run due to decreased construction and maintenance costs and increased ticket prices, but I still don't like their decision. Not that the Wilpons or the politicians who authorize this waste of taxpayer money in Flushing or Bronx care.
