Endy. Pagan plays the outfield the way I do.
I would pick Endy. He has far more major league experience, a better outfielder, with equal speed, and more power.
I almost like Pagan more at the plate, but not enough more to outweight Endy's defense which is his primary purpose when all is going well.
IMO, Pagan and Chavez are to a certain extent redundant, in that they are very similar players, and can only play OF.
I think the bench would be better if they had one of the 2 (I pick Pagan), and replace the other with a RH 1B/OF type with some pop in the bat.
I actually like Nick Evans at AA, although he might not be quite ready to step into the role, but soemone like that.
Hey, if he can play a decent 3B in a pinch, even better!
Gotta go with Endy. Pagan's offensive potential only seems to be realized when he's playing everyday, which he can't do with Alou out there. In addition, having Alou offsets the need for Pagan's offense. Therefore, like a previous commenter stated, when things are going well, Endy is the guy you want. He's a late inning replacement for Alou, he can play all 3 outfield positions at gold glove caliber, or near that, and has a knack for getting key hits, and he's used to doing that in a bench role. Pagan doesn't seem to thrive off the bench. Pagan is also just not solid enough to be a defensive replacement or to be counted on in a big spot in the outfield. His arm is also horrid, one of the worst in the league I'm guessing. Overall, I just don't see the need for Pagan's "potential" on offense with Alou around, but I do see the need for Endy's amazing defense. We have other pinch hitters which are better then Pagan either way at that specific role.
Gotta go with Endy….
Defensive specialist, both have speed and even though Endy's bat is cold now by the end of the year my guess is they will have about the same average.
I choose Endy, as everyone seems to mention, they are very similar ball players. Pagan's defense is a little shotty, but in time he can come around. I just love Endy for that catch he made Game 7 and for that I gotta go with him.
