On Perez …

May
5

Was talking to one of the Mets the other day and he said the team gets frustrated when Oliver Perez pitches. When he’s all over the place the game slows down and there’s a lot of standing around in the field. Makes for an ugly game.

perez-oliver.jpg He’s got such good stuff that he would be better off to “just throw the damn ball.” Perez gets in trouble when the tries to think too much.

With CC Sabathia weighing in at close to 300 pounds, Perez has a chance to make a pile of money this winter in the FA market. He still can, but he’s pitched nowhere close to where he should be considered “the prize.”

Before this season started, I really thought that the Mets couldn't afford NOT to resign Oliver. Last year, he was more good than bad. The start to this season makes me think that he can't even be consistent from season to season, let alone game to game. I reserve judgment for the end of the season, but right now I can't see giving him a lot of years and big money. I would rather suffer the short term consequences without him.

pitching is such an unpredictable thing, as the yankees are finding out. Kudos to Omar for making Perez prove himself this year. Let's hope the kid can get it together, as we defintely need him.

Maybe if Scheinder can catch TN, OP will just throw it to the damn glove. I'm gettin tired of all these walks by this team.

Ollie Perez stinks…..sell high now! Can't stand to watch him anymore!

to ChiliGTC: "sell high now". who will buy? The guy was on two teams with the same results. Wagner's talk to the media did not embarass him. His attitude after a loss sucks. Maybe a talk with Boras will straighten him, being that this is his walk year.
