Hey the Mets were satisfied with Delgado&#039;s output in &#039;06&#039; &amp; &#039;O7&#039; (granted more of &#039;06&#039; then &#039;07&#039;) and would have been willing to pay his 28mil for those two years.  Since the trade they have received 14mil over the three years from the Marlins (7mil up front,&#039;06&#039;-1mil, &#039;07&#039;-2mil, &#039;08&#039;-4mil. So doing skewed math they paid the first two years and only owe him 6mil to release him( 16mil &#039;08&#039; + 4mil &#039;09&#039; buyout - 14mil Marlins). Thats not much money to be keeping him around how much was frank Thomas&#039; contract....</description>
