Mets in the Afternoon: Schneider, Alou updates

-The arrival of Moises Alou from the disabled list is tied to Brian Schneider’s infected left thumb. When the Mets know about Schneider they’ll be able to activate Alou and option Gustavo Molina.
-Willie Randolph said he’s not giving up on Carlos Delgado, but then again what would you expect him to say?
-I asked Randolph if any of the minor league first basemen impressed him in spring training and he said no.

JD,
Hey the Mets were satisfied with Delgado’s output in ‘06’ & ‘O7’ (granted more of ‘06’ then ‘07’) and would have been willing to pay his 28mil for those two years. Since the trade they have received 14mil over the three years from the Marlins (7mil up front,’06’
1mil, ‘07’-2mil, ‘08’-4mil. So doing skewed math they paid the first two years and only owe him 6mil to release him( 16mil ‘08’ + 4mil ‘09’ buyout14mil Marlins). Thats not much money to be keeping him around how much was frank Thomas’ contract….My mistake i misread cots contract they got 7mil in all – still takes the sting out of cutting him.
