Schneider to DL?

April
24

Brian Schneider is getting his infected left thumb examined in New York. Willie Randolph said if the decision is made to lance the infection, he would go on the DL.

Back-up catcher Gustavo Molina is here in preparation of the Mets making a move.

If Schneider doesn’t have to go on the DL, you can can DFA Clark for Molina and then send down Molina when Schneider is ready to go in favor of Alou.

Normally it’s no reason to fret if you’re light-hitting catcher goes down for a couple weeks provided you have a solid defensive backup, but Schneider is hitting .333 w/ RISP, which is more than can be said for the other schlubs. Or most of them at least.

Ugh. This is bad. How does one get an infection inside the thumb? How come this wasn’t monitored so it wouldn’t get to this point?
