On me banning people …

April
22

Well, it is possible for me to do. I have done it, but I hate to do it. I’ve banned some who have been vulgar and obscene.

As far as deleting, I’ve done that too, and for the same reasons. Also, if that poster has been attacking others I’ll delete him for the day. It’s not as if I say “off with your head,’’ if you don’t agree with me or like me.

I don’t delete comments from those who disagree with me. That defeats the whole concept of free speech. If I did, my archives would be pretty thin. And, unless there’s a curse or something vicious, I don’t delete personal attacks on me. If I deleted or banned somebody simply because he is highly critical of me you’d never see Metsfan again.

As far as I’m concerned, the blog concept is for an exchange of ideas. People will disagree. I just hate the attacks. It’s like talk radio or some ESPN programming that’s just screaming and shouting.

As far as DC goes, there’s no reason to ban him. He’s not been vulgar or obscene. Every once in awhile he’ll say something that clicks. If you don’t like him, don’t respond.

My hope from the blog is that you are informed and entertained. And, if I can get you to think about things, that’s a plus. Enjoy. JD

  1. hello from dC

We’ll send you up some chocolate chip cookies tomorrow!!!!!!! (If they don’t take them away at the gate, that is).....

John, you are a true patriot. (Someone cue the Old Spice theme music.)

  3. metsfan

hey john, i appreciate this post, i know i’m critical, but i probably take it too far sometimes, i’ll tone that down. As for DC, i don’t mind him, but sometimes his posts are just incredibly senseless and demeaning towards myself and others, but whatever, he has the right to say whatever he wants.

    Love the guillotine graphic, JD!

JD, that DC idiot has nothing to bring to the table, really, seriously, the only thing he post are negative comments about the mets. I admit he is truly childish and would love to meet him man to man. If that happened I would hope he had a good dental plan if you know what I mean. Anyway, I’ve already decided that won’t happen so the best thing to do is to not read his post at all since it really has nothing to do about talking baseball. I suggest to all met fans that when they see this idiots name, just skip reading his post and move on.

My theory: DC is really Delcos. Just a hunch.

  7. hello from Pelham Pkwy

me too… I feel so bad today I am one with my fellow metsies…. united in our endeavor to whip the Cubs. I will not demean metsfan at all…. sorry metsfan…. I really love you….. he loves the mets thru thick and thin more than most of little metsies do…... metsfan did you ever go to the Polo Grounds?

Tiffany: Like I said, there’s some devil in you. I like that. But, sorry, you’re wrong on that one.-JD

    I think Tiffany is Hello….

“that DC idiot has nothing to bring to the table, really, seriously, the only thing he post are negative comments about the mets.”

tomg, this may be true, but it’s pretty weak grounds for banning someone.

  11. hello from Pelham Pkwy

Keith… If you come to the game tomorrow I’d let you share our beer but they don’t let beer on the metro!

  12. Keith

DC, I’m not defending what you post, just your right to do so.

That said, I love DC and definitely want to get down there for a game eventually.

John D. I gotta say – you go!!! 100% agreement. I cannot stand the cursing and the attacks when they go overboard. That being said I love the back and forth.

But whatever you do – Don’t ban DC. That guy (or gal) makes me laugh. And really don’t you think that’s his/her goal?

Like the kid (Yanks’ fan) that used to tease you but in a goodnatured way when you were young. And as Mets fans we all know that feeling.
