clm: I know that little metsie suffer from a lot of things because they are metsies and get no respect from the baseball world, but come on clm, are you so low on the grey matter that youthink I’m a yankee fan??? oh, little metsies assume everyone is a yankee fan because they KNOW there are so few little metsies in the world!
but since you only understand yankees lets compare…. the yankees have been in the playoffs lets see how many years in a row?? its so high a little metsie can’t count the playoff years on all his little fingers. what about the metsies???? oh a couple when valentine was in charge and one whole playoff appearance under the new regime. wow little metsies for all the money you spend you sure have little to show for it… no wonder little metsies are such bitter people…......
and as for 2004 little clm i guess its worse to be the yankees to have lost in the playoff, than to be the metsies who didn’t make the playoffs which is the case in most years of their pathetic second rate hisrtory, the metsies the # 3 team in nyc forever, relegated to a dirty parking lot in queens because nobody wants their “despicable” fans in the neighborhood…..
all that money wasted while the yankees go to the playoffs every single freakin year, and you stay home and hide your metsie shirts one more time because you are so ashamed…..
poor metsie clm. you have indeed suffered enough…..
well little metsie clm how does it feel, wherever you go in the world people are wearing yankee hats and shirts and there are no metsies shirts and hats to be seen… how does it feel to be 2nd rate, even your owner doesn’t want to own the metsies. he dreams of owning the dodgers… at least the steinbrenners want to own their own team!!!!!

could be Eaton. I was going based on the earlier rotation, but they may have reorganized it.

Eaton has done OK this year, but come on, he is still Eaton. And, since they have already faced him, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see them light him up big time.

Scoop, I agree that Delgado seems to be regressing. And I am starting to think something will have to give sooner, not later.

great minds think alike, as I stated same as you on getting inn out of Pelf and lots of runs.

don’t give up on Endy. Pagan can’t keep this up and he has made a couple of poor plays in the field. Sooner or later Endy will be in there, if for no other reason for defense.

Delagdo not only seems to have lost his bat speed but also his thought process. Every pitcher is going away, away, away and he keeps on trying to hit that away junk to RF. he is not making any adjustments.

After 16 games it is very difficult to extrapolate how many inn. any pitcher is going to go. Come back after 40 games w/those kinds of stats.

However, it would be good if Pelf could figure out a way to go 6-7 and the Mets score 6-8 runs so that Sosa can come in and mop up.

However, I see that Eaton goes tomorrow and for whatever reason Mets are keeping him and Moyer employed and keeping their ERAs under 6 since both seem to have Mets mezmorized w/their “super stuff”.

nice to see a win. Even nicer will be seeing Pelfrey get in 7 innings, preferably pitching with a huge lead after the Mets rake Kendrik early and often, then pile on the BP. The pen could probably use some rest. Sosa can be the only relief if the plan works!

some other randon thoughts:

Heilmann showed stones handling the bases loaded situation. Nice job.

Delgado’s OK start seems to have fizzled out. He is getting dangerously close to the Mendoza line, and is already hitting below Castillo (with about the same power!) If this continues, the Mets might be forced to make a move. Or we will have to start hoping for a DL trip to force the issue. Call up Bignhamton!

Oh, Delgado also looks like he really needs ALou back to help him out.

Endy continues to look like an extraneous piece of this team. Yes, we will always have “the catch”, but he hasn’t done too much (a couple of ABs) since then. Frankly, not sure we would miss him if he disappeared, and more than Clark. Wonder if the rumored off season trade (with Detroit maybe?) was real or not?

DW certainly is having a better April this year. Man, if he replicates last year May+, look out!

Now just have to get Beltran in a groove, and this team could really start cranking. He should be due for a nice hot streak soon.

Roger: Preserving Heilman is important, but they were saving Jorge Sosa for the possibility of extra innings. Randolph had to go with Heilman in that spot because he already used Duaner Sanchez. There were no other options.-JD

I agree Heilman’s overuse is cause for concern, but what alternative did Willie have but to put Heilman in the game? Righties have owned Feliciano this year, and Heilman was the only guy ready to go (other than Sosa, who’s being saved for long relief). As it is, Heilman got the Mets out of the inning.

Roger your right about Heilman being over used but as far as his command today, I thought it was pretty good. 2 k’s against Jenkins and Werth is pretty good. And the last pitch to Werth had some movement on it.

The other guy who I think needs a break is Joe Smith, he is starting to look a little tired, but what do I know right?

John, horrible move putting Heilman in the game. I don’t care if he got out of it.. He’s pitching basically every game, and at this point he’s on pace to pitch OVER 100 innings. The Mets have pitched him 173 innings the past two years, they’re gunna blow his arm out.

Not to mention he had ABSOLUTELY no command today, and thanks to Schneider he got out with only one run today.

wagner has been outstanding so far this year. hopefully he keeps it up. i think the switch to the wind up has definitely been contributing.

hopefully big pelf and the boys can step on their necks tomorrow and get the sweep.
