Tiffany, you and others stated exactly why both of these guys were let go. Wilpons don’t like to be on page 6. They have a hard enough time getting on the back page where they want to be.

Schneider may be the better player at this point, but Paulie offered so much more in terms of intangibles like teenage hottie girlfriends, gambling debts and performance-enhanced volatilities. Let’s face it, it’s going to be a cold day in hell before Schneider lands on Page Six.

I personally didn’t like Paul Lo Duca but you have to cheer him. He may not have been as productive as some thought but he certianly played hard out there. He should be cheered.

Milledge wasn’t here long enough to even get any type of reaction in my opinion. I love Lastings Milledge and I would probably cheer but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a feeling of indifference there. Although I’d be a little confused if he was booed. He didn’t really do anything to deserve to be booed.

The only time I ever cheered a traded away Met player was Tom Seaver. LoDuca is worse, though. As far as keeping the player they wanted, they kept Gary Gentry instead of Nolan Ryan. Mike Pelfrey instead of Brian Bannister. In 1993 they were bragging about getting Ryan Thompson for David Cone. We will see how this trade works out..it may take a decade to decide.

Anyone remember the charity game in 1987 with the Red Sox and the big hand Bill Buckner got when he came to bat???

Milledge is going to be very good. Unless the Mets win a world series in the next 2 years fans will treat that trade as they treated the Kazmir deal.

No reason to boo either of them, but I think only lo Duca deserves cheers. Milledge wasn’t a bad kid or player, but he didn’t do much to effect the team in either direction during his time as a Met. Lo Duca did some nice things for this club in 2006, and at least he always played like he cared.

I agree with rmkmets, I would boo Loduca because I felt he became a real problem late in the season for the mets. However, I would cheer Milledge he did get a raw deal with the Mets. I dont know how good he will be but he definitely has 20-20 capabilities. The Mets right now lack a clutch hitter, I believe in his short stint Milledge, with hsi confidence, was very successful in the clutch. (HR vs Benitez and doubling vs Hoffman and scoring the tieing run are just two moments I remember)

I would cheer both. Paulie because he came to play even if he ws on roids. LM because he tried. I was looking up his numbers and he did well with runners on.

He did not get a shot like he will this year, but rookies who need to learn the game cannot expect to start.

Both will come to play and try and bash our heads in for essentially the same reason.

As for our new catcher, I caught much of one of the games this weekend and lots of balls got by him.

I would boo LoDuca but cheer Milledge. I think Milledge got a very raw deal with the Mets, and I disagree with you John – I think he’s going to become a major star. The organization was too caught up in his image and off-field issues (many of which were blown out of proportion) and never really wanted to give him a shot.

As for LoDuca, his steroid issues along with the fact that I thought he cost the team a bunch of games down the stretch would lead me to boo the guy.

Personally, I think you cheer them. Lastings may have had some problems in the clubhouse but he was great to the fans. Loduca even with teh steroid stuff, played his heart out for the team.
