Steve, I know. The operative word being "pushing" the name Picasso. He's the only media member I've seen run with it.

Keith: Carton didn't make that up by the way. It was Pedro who after a throwing session said "Just call me Picasso!" after he painted the corners.

dave: The Mets have already shown what they are trying to do. They could have gone to 4 man rotation for first 2 weeks due to days off but stuck with 5 man to give Pedro (and the others for that matter) an extra day rest whenever possible. Now what we don't know is what happens when we need a 6th starter. The pressure is really on Mike Pelfrey to show he can perform at a big league level while he pitches for El Duque. If he bombs like he did last year the 6th starter will be a continuing parade of duds like we have seen the last 2 years.
Do I have Pedro concerns. No, if he doesn't get hurt he's Pedro.

I wouldn't call them concerns just yet. However, we know that Pedro is going to need some extra rest to be right at the end of the year. This has been true for as long as anyone can even remember. That raises some questions.

1. Will the Mets move Perez and Maine up in the rotation when Pedro needs extra rest, thereby messing around with their rest?

2. Assuming that the answer to question 1 is no, who will the Mets count on to spot start when Pedro needs extra rest? El Duque? Pelfrey? Sosa?

Not concerned about mr. long fingers at all. in fact, i'm more excited about seeing him pitch than i was about seeing santana yesterday. If we can just sign Sidd Finch, this rotation would be top-notch.

No concerns at all - Pedro's been around long enough to know what is best for him, and if he says he OK to go, he is.

As I wrote earlier this morning, I noted that many out of town sports writers filed from Miami last night - even some who do not usually travel with the team. So they get a pitching double header where it is really baseball weather.

Even though the weather forecast for today is rain, thunderstorms and wind, I received an email this morning that really is a sign of Spring - my Entry Form for the "Annual Masters Golf Crazy Eights Pool" contest. In fifteen years, I've won it twice - no prizes just bragging rights.
