Finally. It has been a long spring.
Opening Day. I think this would be a good time for you to share your favorite Opening Day memories.
Mine came when my dad took me and my brother out of school to see Opening Day in Cleveland.
School wasn’t pleased, but dad didn’t care.

Finally winning an opening day in 1970. The Mets couldn't even beat the expansion Expos in 1969! Seaver's comeback in 1983.
The first run scored against the Mets in 1962 was on a balk.
Kaz Matsui hitting a home run on his first pitch (did the same the next year).
Was that game at the mistake on the lake, John (old Cleveland Municipal Stadium). I was there opening day in 1975. Got their kind of late and was in the parking lot when frank Robinson homered. Boog Powell in an all-red uniform!
Dan: It sure was. That was the park I grew up in. A dump, but it was my dump. One thing that park had was a Hall of Fame. It was big room with Indians memorabilia. I hope they do something like that at Citi Field. Do it right.-JD
I don't remember Boog Powell, but I once slow danced with Rocky Colavito.
Tiffany; Love that blast from the past! Don't Knock the Rock. One of my favorites.-JD
Tiffany: If you go to a game at Oriole Park in Camden Yards, go to the bar b q place on Utah street and you may get to meet Boog. He's behind the bullpens in left field.
Best opener: '85 Carter's game winning homer in 10th inning to win game. Believe it was off of ex-Met Neil Allen. To the old man the best opener was in '62 because it meant to him that Willie Mays would soon be back in the Polo Grounds!
what time does the game start? I have seen conflicting times, 410 and 435pm.
Scoop: I heard 4:25 was 1st pitch. As far as opening days go, my best opening day I attended was the game when Tom Seaver returned to the Mets in 1983.
Gary Carters first game with the mets on opening day he hit a home run either in the bottom of the ninth or tenth to win the game against the cardinals.
Opening day leads me to think of that mamoth homer Straw hit in Montreal. Quite possibly the longest homer ever hit.
What's going to be more talked about tomorrow, Opening day at Shea or Opening day at Yankee stadium? Should be a great game for Santana. Will he give the Mets this season 20+ wins? Sure hope so.
Was it the great philosopher Rickey Henderson who said about fog delaying a game at Cleveland's Municipal Stadium "what do you expect when you build a stadium next to the ocean?"
I wonder if I could choose to be at any one team/city for any year in baseball history if the 1948 Cleveland Indians would be the choice. Great year, shenanigans with Bill Veeck and Lou Boudreau, Satchel Paige makes the big leagues after 20 years, Bob Feller. 2.6 million doesn't sound that much but it was the highest attendance for a team until the mid 70s.
Welcome to NY Gary Carter!!!!!! – 1985
The home opener in 1981, Randy Jones won, his only win all year!!!!!LOL
somewhere in the 80's, in the parking lot huddling over the hibachi trying not to freeze to death!
Opening day 1993 vs Rockies, somehow I ended up with a media pass that let me be on the field for 1st pitch. I remember Dennis Byrd was the their.
The Mets were so bad nobody really cared. Don't think I could pull that off today.
