metsblog has Pagan ahead of Church.
Newsday, the Post, and Metsblog have Pagan and Church flipped.
Pagan ahead of Church would make perfect sense, to break up the lefties. Strange, too, how a “pagan” is then followed by “church.” Ironic.
not a bad looking lineup. And it is temporary.
Think how much better it will be in May when you can replace Pagan and Schneider with Alou and Castro against a lefty.
Mets scored 800 runs w/a similar lineup last yr-4th in NL. It is not a great lineup, but should suffice given the better pitching.
D will win games. It may be 2-1 or 3-1 not 8-5.
Ugh. The ghost of Carlos Delgado batting 5th?
That is some ugly, right there, that is some Sarah Jessica Parker strength ugly. Hiding him in the eight-hole would be one thing but… yikes.
I just saw “Mets Weekly” on SNY and I must say there seems to be some on-air chemistry between you and Jocelyn Pierce. Are you guys seeing each other off-camera?
Mike C., you’re crazy. Delgado hitting 8th?
Have you totally given up on attempting objectivity?
Why bother to watch a game if you are so down on the team that you think Delgado should bat 8th?
Maybe he should bat 9th?
All that’s left of Delgado is the fact that he makes too much money than to bench or cut. That’s basically what the eight-hole is for, kids.
.258/.333/.448 to go along with 24 HRs, 30 2B, and 87 RBIs was surely a disappointment by Delgado standards, but hardly worthy of the 8 hole. You could do worse than Delgado at 1B.
Hey scoop, do you think Johan should bat 8th over Schneider on days he pitches? I’m only half kidding.
if anyone is going to bat 9th instead of a pitcher it has to be a top of the order type player.
You could bat Pagan or Endy 9th, but not Schneider. It defeats the purpose by having a slow runner in that spot.
Nate: Exactly: By putting Endy/Pagan 9th you have come as close as you can to an American League lineup, and you put more pressure on the pitcher witrh Wright/Betran coming up. Scneider is absolutely the wrong type of guy to bat 9th. When Alou returns the lineup wouldn’t handle the situation any more.
Did you guys know that in the 40s the Pirates manager experimented with this 2 power hitter batting one/two, his pitch 7th and the normal 1-2 guys batted 8th and 9th because he wanted the power guys to have more chances to pop the ball out. Of course the Pirates were horrible so it wasn’t a valubale test.
Did you guys know that when Billy Martin was managing the Tigers, in an attempt to break a losing streak, picked the lineup order out of a hat. Of course, the Tigers won.
Ok, I didn’t fact check, apparently he did it while managing the Yankees.
