GM Omar Minaya said the reasoning on taking Brady Clark over Fernando Tatis boiled down to patience: “We felt coming off the bench (Clark) would give us a better at-bat.”
Tatis had more power potential, but was also more likely to strikeout and fail to advance a runner.

The one thing Tatis did give them was another player besides DW that could actually play 3B. LOoks like David is going to be an every inning iron man this year (Jose too for that matter).
stick, I doubt David Wright will need days off in April. Moises Alou had better be back to take that roster spot by the time days off for David Wright becomes an issue.
I guess it should have been obvious that Clark was gonna make it when he played in the ST/CRG yesterday.
The best part about this is that Tatis will not be wearing #17.
DW played 160 games last yr. I suspect he and JR will play that many this yr too, despite what Willie has said on the subject b/c they don't have anyone who can play ss/3b (Easely maybe 1-2 games).
Easley should be able to play all infield positions this year. Not sure how well, but young guys need a break too.
Still should'a been Gotay over either of them but…
At least Clark has some minor track record as a pinch-hitter, I s'pose.
