Santana is ready

Johan Santana said he’s ready for the season to start after his 81-pitch tune-up this afternoon in a minor league game.

“We’re ready,” Santana said. “We got everything done we were supposed to do and I feel great. Now we’re going to focus on the season.”

Santana said all his pitches felt comfortable, including his slider, the one that usually comes along last.

Santana called it “an honor,” do be named Opening Day starter.
