Ravi, maybe. I guess Sosa will then be part of setup group instead of long man.

Is Figgy out of options too? Your scenario would make more sense if the only way they could keep him is to have him on team as long man.

I see Pelf as #5 b/c they did not pitch Figgy today and are not expected to pitch Sosa tomorrow. So the scenarios of either being the #5 seem to be gone. Eldud is not ready now (if ever).

Scoop, don't think Stokes will make it either…in the pen, you've got:

Wagner, Heilman, Sosa, Feliciano, Schoenweis, Wise

That leaves one opening between Smith, Stokes, and Figeroa, and by the way Omar has been playing him up, I think Nelson takes the last spot, with the Big Pelf being named number 5.

Stokes is out of options so he would have to clear waivers. Why not put him on waivers instead.

I wonder what Alou's goal was last year when he missed half the season with a "sore quad". I wonder what the next Alou affliction will be? The Gout? Glaucoma? Swollen prostate? Alzhiemers?

All else being equal, I'm not sure that the Mets prefer Stokes over Register. The problem is that as a Rule V pick, Register would have to remain on the 25 man roster all year, and for a guy with minimal ML experience, thats a tough thing to do on a contender. I think that is whats forcing Omar's hand. If Register clears waivers, then the Mets can try and work out a deal with the Rockies to keep Register.

In fact, it may be very smart that Omar is doing this now—doing it later in the season would interest teams that have injury concerns which are not necessarily apparent now.

JD, can you confirm…Steve Register and Ruben Gotay on waivers.

Supposedly Stokes or Smith will now get the last spot. Why would the Mets prefer Stokes over Register? Stokes stinks. This move makes no sense.

As I stated before, don't be surprised Mets get little for Gotay. Putting him on waivers indicates that he had little value.
