"You’ll miss Paulie when he shows metsies how to slide in to 2nd"

LoDuca can't even run fast enough to be able to perform a take out slide in 90% of double play situations lol.

"All in all, I’d’a stuck with door number three, Estrada, over both of the bums."

Mike C., you need to get off this Estrada thing once and for all, because it reflects very poorly on you and is a contradiction of everything you moan and groan about.

First of all, Lo Duca could not hit at all last season, in fact, he had a lower OBP than Schneider. He was also hurt half the time, and he was awful at the plate. As always, his defense was terrible. On top of that, he acted like a sociopath on the field, arguing with umps every other game. In short, he was a detriment to the team last year.

Second, Estrada is not good. Period. He had one awesome season in Atlanta and has been living off it ever since. He is a poor defensive catcher and is likely going to start the season on the DL. So after getting on Delgado, Schneider, Church, Alou, Duque, etc for being injured, you wanted the Mets to go with a catcher who is coming off surgery to his throwing elbow and will likely start the season on the DL? How very consistent of you.

At this stage in their careers, Lo Duca, Schneider, and Estrada all are below average hitters, with Schneider likely being the worst of the 3, but again, we're splitting hairs here. However, Schneider is heads and shoulders above both of them defensively, regardless of whether or not his defense has declined with respect to how good he used to be.

Now, if you had said we should have just kept Torrealba, which would have let us keep Millz in RF, then fine, because I can understand that argument (and you may even be correct in making the argument). However, continuously bringing up Estrada's name as a viable catcher is preposterous.

Lastly, Castro has shown he cannot see a lot of action, so the catcher we brought in would have to be able to start the majority of the games. At the time the trade was made to bring in Schneider and even at this point right now, Schneider is the better option of he, Estrada, and Lo Duca.

You'll miss Paulie when he shows metsies how to slide in to 2nd and you have to have Jose Valentin playing SS for half the year. One thing about Paulie, even tho he's basically finished, he has one thing that nobody on the metsies has, and that is fire.... metsies are listless team that goes thru motions and begs for big paychecks... No heart, no fire, no first place finish!!!!! AGAIN.... Break up those Phillies so the metsies have a chance......

I liked the guy initially but he worse his welcome out here. His first year he was a big reason as to why the team got as far as it did. He was a valuable #2 hitter in the lineup.

That 2nd year, however, was another story. His skills were clearly diminishing both defensively and offensively. The steroid stories also kinda make you wonder how much that may have been a major reason for his overall success. His on, AND off, the field antics also became tiresome. It was time for him to go and I don't think they'll miss him in the least

I only miss LoDuca insofar as he could at least hit A LITTLE still, in comparison to The Schnide's inability to hit at all.

Dude was clearly a schmuck and at the fading end of his career.

He is no Gary Carter.

And he did not know when to pick battles with the umps...you just do not risk suspension late in the season. He had injuries as well. Who cares about influence.. Mex was terrible for Doc and Strawberry and they still won the world series. Yea the two did not survive long in MLB but that was also their own doing... Lo Duca was also juicing..Maybe he should write for Canseco.

What's the big deal. He was here for 2 years, had rapidly deteriorating skills and if he returned he would have not shared time happily with Castro......

There seems to be two sides of the Lo Duca fence. One side loved him and considered him to be an elite catcher, while the other side thought he was average at best and wanted him gone after '07.

Personally, I fall on the latter side. He was good in '06 and terrible in '07. I honestly think Todd Hundley, in his prime, was much better than Lo Duca.

I won't miss him. His act of going bat sht over any little thing that happened got old.
It got annoying.
He wasn't even that good. He was the ultimate definition of warning track power too.

John you know my feeling on Lo Duca. He openly showed disrespect for his manager. Great players are able to get away with this, but Lo Duca is an average player at best.
I am happy he is gone. You can't have the idiots running the
asylum.

Time to move on.

I heard that main reason Mets wanted him out of here was fear of bad influence on DW.

part ways - while he was a battler I also think he hurt the Mets behind the plate with the umps - he would vehemently argue with them and go crazy - makes sense now wiht what we know about steriods
