Duque throwing

Watching Duque throw in the bullpen. It just doesn’t look that fast.
The Mets keep telling us velocity is not that important. I’d be more likely to believe that if there weren’t so many radar guns around.

Well, of course velocity is important. But they’re not going to pull the plug on El Duque yet. So no use discouraging him. I’m a total skeptic when it comes to him being able to contribute much this year, but if he can give quality starts, then that would be a plus. However if they strongly believe he won’t be ready by the time they really do need a fifth starter, then just give Pelfrey the job. I have more faith in him this year than I do in El Duque.
There is no way in my mind that El Duke is going to be ready for the baseball season, I’m more confident that el Duke is shot, done unless the mets organization decides that the new wind up is not going to work and El Duke goes back to his old wind up.
If, If he pitches on Sunday you could see alot of golpher balls.
It’s official. They are now timing El Duque’s pitch speed with a sun dial. And the last ball he pitched to a batter of any type just landed.
