Carlos Beltran said he would have played as the DH this afternoon if it had been available, but the Cardinals opted to play under NL rules.
“I felt all right, but I got a little tired,’’ Beltran said. “The left side is weaker than the right side.’’
Beltran said he’s not capable of playing nine innings on defense.

He gives an honest update and you’ll hear the detractors say he’s soft. Everybody else on the club says what me worry, and everyone jumps for joy.

Sounds like he either starts and gets subed midway through the game or comes in as a PH.
Sounds to me we have Church RF, Endy CF, Pagan LF to start the season.

Beltran just needs some time to build up his leg. He will be ok. He sounds like he will not be sound for opening day. But he will be ok.
This is another example of an org that just doesn’t have a plan on a daily or long term level. Beltran can play CF and he can get his ABs at ST Lucie to get his swing down. Why did they have to put him in the OF in a game? Because they don’t plan.
If you actually read something letsgomets, you would have seen that Beltran asked to play to test out his legs. It was his call.
