More from the clubhouse. Duaner Sanchez said he’s close to throwing in back-to-back games, which is the test that tells him he’s ready.
“I don’t feel like I had surgery,” Sanchez said. “I expect to be there (for Opening Day).”
might be better for th eMets if he gets held back for a little more rehab.
Let him miss the April cold weather, and if the Mets still have too many arms for the pen, it gives them a chance to evaluate some of th eother guys.
I would hate to lose say Register back to the Rockies, then have Sanchez break down in Mid April, leaving a big hole.
Register, and especially Wise, have looked like real possibilities so far.
Might be part of the reason you heard the Sosa trade talk.
His velocity is only 88-90 and he had no command of his fastball which I hope improves before opening day.
Thats a quick leap from once a week to back to back days. I’ll believe it when I see it.
John: Question about Angel Pagan. Why are the Mets so enamored with him? He’s hitting well but he’s Ryan Braun-esqe out there in the outfield.
Why is Willie so enamored with infield defense but he is a hypocrite when it comes to outfield defense? He over-values infield defense so much, maybe because he himself was an infielder but our pitching staff has high fly-ball tendencies.
If Gotay was below average defensively as an outfielder Willie would pat him on the back, but oh he’s not so good as an infielder.
Angel Pagan if he makes the team is going to cost the Mets several wins defensively unless he magically gets his act together. The kid can run but he judges balls like he’s in LL.
Pagan has made a few very nice plays in the field so far, including basically saving a game the other day. Not sure where the bad D comes in. Either way, he hasn’t made the team yet, nor do we have any better options, who do you suggest? Endy is obviously making the team, so who else is there? Do you like Easley’s D better? Marlon Anderson? Let us all in on this great defensive player that we have that will take Pagan’s place.
@ Kalyan Pokala:
Where did you hear/why do you think Pagan is a butcher in the outfield? He’s a top tier defensive outfielder… He’s quick, has good range, and a good arm.. He’s already shown us his good defense.
If you don’t believe me check the scouting reports
Consistent singles hitter who’s very fast around the bases. Solid defensive outfielder. Surprisingly productive with runners in scoring position.
while he may be erratic on the base paths, Pagan is a standout defensivley in the outfield. He takes very good routes on the balls hit in his vicinity and despite playing a shallow outfield, gets to everything over his head. Pagan boast a strong arm as well, strong enough to play right field in emergence situations
Not sure if I would call Pagan top tier defensive outfielder. I think he is good, not great.
