JD: Can you make a post asking for pros/cons of the new format? I miss the stuff on right with the last comments…..I liked knowing right away what were the hot topics.
Is this a permanent change?
Man, the mets are like a walking M*A*S*H Unit. Last year they fell apart at the end of the season and this year they decided why wait till the end, lets fall apart before the season starts, unbelievable. I’m not confident like other met fans are about this team. Beltran’s left knee does not sound good at all, we haven’t even seen Castillo yet and he has two bad knees, delgado, well, I thought he was done before this hip injury and alou, we all knew he wasn’t going to stay healthy but he couldn’t even last through a few spring training games. Than there is El Duke, not for nothing but I thought I saw him warming up on espn yesterday with his normal high kick which tells me that idea didn’t work with changing his delivery, he is shot also. It’s not that hard to believe that the Mets could come in third place this year with all these players who are shot physically.
I find it funny that people are freaking out or calling the Mets done when the season hasn’t even started. Why be a fan if all you’re going to be is pessimistic? What fun is it if all you do is say, oh, they’re going to lose. Why even watch then? Why give a crap? Personally I think you’re wrong tomg, the injuries aren’t that bad, we’re still weeks away from the season. Alou was going to go down, that was a given, so what if it happened now, he’ll be back. Beltran will be fine and so will Castillo, they’re building up strength. Delgado is key, but he’ll be at least ok. El Duque who knows, but he’s out 5th starter. We’re really freaking out over our 5th starter? And you “thought” you saw him warming up on espn? What does that even mean? That could have been stock footage from whenever. Man, naivety rules.
metsfan: What right do you have to call another fan out because he doesn’t feel everything is perfect. Tomg has as much right to his opinion as you do, and the fun he has, is for him and not you. All you perfect believers always question another fan’s loyalties because they don’t think like you do. Well pal, we are just as good a fan as you and probably better because we won’t be bitching if things don’t go perfectly every night this year.
Thank you sloppy for having my back, you saved me the time to waste to answer Metsfan.
As a glass half full kind of guy, even I have a hard time with what metsfan said. I think tomg makes some strong points.
While I believe it is certainly waaay too early to panic, I do see how these early developments can be disconcerting.
I side with metsfan. Although he may have put it differently. I do not see it as a personal attack, more of it is early and many here are very pessimistic. He is giving answers to the original post on a player by player basis trying to refute the argument we are all banged up and cannot play because..
It is still early and the above mentioned players have time to get it together. Although it is somewhat worrying that they have any lingering physical issues we are concerned about the #5 starter, we are worried about players who had similar issues last year and played well.
We have 2 serious concerns:
1) Alou – he is fragile, but we knew that and the injury is a month before the season so it can be considered ‘good’ that it is this early.
2) Beltran until he proves he can hit again he is a problem
So yes I believe tomg has a point, but it is early
“2) Beltran until he proves he can hit again he is a problem”
Huh? When did Beltran stop hitting? Do you mean Delgado? Because I think Delgado is much more of a concern than Beltran at this point.
Oops.
That should have been Delgado, it’s the 3 Carlos thing.
