What will the Mets get from Johan Santana? A Cy Young season? Middle of the road? Or, will he flop, which has happened to other big-ticket free-agents in their first year in New York.

Why are we measuring his season based on wins? Kinda weird.
He is too good to flop.
18-9, 235 inn, 242 SO, 2.77 ERA
27-2 1.10 ERA, 250 inn and 300+K, walking on water, bringing peace to the middle east, solving the sub-prime mess, talking Hillary into dropping out, a World Series championship, MVP, CY Young, just the normal stuff.
Besides all of the above I see he also redid your website.
Well done Johan
I think Santana will do just fine. In general, top flight pitchers haven’t had quite the same problem fitting in (at least for the Mets) as position players have. Pedro was great when he first came over; Wagner struggled at first, but no differently than he usually does early in a season, and then he was fine. Even Hampton was okay when we got him. And I don’t remember so well, but I don’t think Glavine struggled so much as the team struggled around him. So I expect Santana to rebound somewhat from last season, coming over from the land of the DH to the easier league (pitching-wise).
He’ll do good.
He’ll pitch like an ace.
Whether he’ll pitch like the best ace in the National League or not, who knows, but if there aren’t any freak injuries, he’ll pitch like an ace.
I like the stripped down blog, by the by.
Loads in less than ten minutes now.
