I knew today was Saturday because there wasn’t a USA Today outside my door.
Mike Pelfrey starting in PSL and Jonathan Niese at Lauderdale against Baltimore.
Ryan Church wants to play, but isn’t sure. It’s a go for Brian Schneider,
Duaner Sanchez said he’s pitching.
It’s going to be a full day.

Are the Mets calling for tryouts for the team going to Ft Lauderdale?
word is that Marlon Anderson and Easley will be playing, so I think they will have just enough players from the kids we’ve been seeing the last few days, and Wright and Reyes playing…
Just saw an interesting video on foxsports.com. Dibble and Kennedy brought up Juan Rivera as a guy the Mets should go after. After thinking about it for a minute, they may be right.

I like the Juan Rivera idea. What do you think it would take to get him? I also liked the idea of Thames. The Mets need a righty bat with some pop.
Also, any updates on Castillo? I haven’t seen any mention of him lately in the injury updates.
Why did this guy hardly play last year? The Mets should only get somebody if they get the guy for virtually nothing like Castillo. There are no spare parts left to dump.
Rivera was out most of last year with a broken leg, but played well upon returning.
I think the most prudent approach is to wait. Right now a Rivera or Thames would cost more than they would in a month. When the season is about to begin, if both the Tigers and Angels need some arms for the pen, they’re 4th (or in the Angels’ case 5th/6th) OF will suddenly become expendable.
