JD, How does Andy H look? Is his bat good enuf to come north? If so we would have Gotay/Hernandez tag team as subs for the middle infield. That would allow Clark/Pagan/Endy to stick and the team will instantly be a younger more athletic club.

Look… where do all these bench players fit into the club in all of these scenarios?

The Mets are gonna have a five-man bench and if most of the team is healthy… Easley, Chavez, Castro and Gotay all have to be on the club to back-up all of the defensive positions and Anderson’s gonna be on the club because the organization loves him.

Granted, Alou’s gonna be down til May… which is ‘til the All-Star Break in Met-speak…

But you know that by opening day, they’re gonna run Delgado and Castillo out there at 50% and Beltran at 75% because they kind of have to so as to save face…

And Platoon and the Schnide will be healthy enough to play by then as well, even if they probably shouldn’t be playing.

So I don’t know where this ten-man-bench theory is coming from.

Also, here’s a wild guess on Andy Hernandy.

“He plays above-average defense all across the left-side of the infield but can’t hit to save his life”... the same analysis he’s had for the last fifteen spring trainings.

He’s Joe McEwing with a cooler name and less of a bat, which I didn’t know was possible.

I think you’re right, but let’s hope they’ve learned from past mistakes and don’t rush these guys.

It’s such a shame Anderson Hernandez can’t hit at all. He has such a good glove. Even I can’t spin those stats ;)

That’s quite a lineup the Mets are using… ESPN must be thrilled!

    ...who is Argenis Reyes ?

Second Mets name I’ve seen in a lineup this spring that’s had be baffled. Thats hard to do.

What happened to the rule that you had to have 3 major leaguers at every away spring training game? Maybe they got a special dispensation from Selig due to all their injures. Wright and Reyes need to be rested and not stressed out just because everyone else is a little hurt.

Frankly, it’s a treat to watch prospects like F-Mart and Ruben Tejada play.

Nate: Argenis Reyes answered an ad in the local paper.-JD

Dave: Anderson Hernandez has been all right. Nothing to wow anybody enough to say he should be playing.-JD
