Hernandez experiments with new wind-up

Mets pitcher Orlando Hernandez has altered his wind-up in hope of alleviating pressure on a bunion on his right foot.
Hernandez was supposed to throw batting practice today, but instead threw in the bullpen.
With his old delivery, Hernandez rocked and placed his weight on the balls of his right foot. The new delivery is flat footed, and so far there’s no pain. Hernandez’s exaggerated leg kick (as seen in the picture) is not as high.
“I didn’t feel the pressure on my foot,’’ said Hernandez, who will attempt to throw again in two or three days.
How well Hernandez adapts to this wind-up could determine if he makes the team coming out of spring training as the fifth starter.
